It’s one of those slow cooker recipes which doesn’t feel like it’s been cooked in the slow cooker, because the sauce is thick and sticky.

How To Make Chinese Chilli Beef in the Slow Cooker

1. Finely dice the onion and roughly chop the beef into bite-sized pieces (don’t make them too small)

2. Add oil to a pan, or to your slow cooker pan if you have a sizzle to simmer slow cooker 

3. Once hot, add the beef and onion

4. Cook on high until the beef is browned

5, Mix together the ‘sauce ingredients’ in a bowl -then pour into your slow cooker

6. Then add in the browned beef

6. And add to the slow cooker – turn the lid off and cook on low for 5 hours or high for 3

7. Once cooked, the sauce will be thick and meat tender – serve on a bed of rice or with noodles or salad

Slow Cooker Chilli Beef Recipe

A delicious, easy recipe for Chinese Chilli Beef in the Slow Cooker.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Vegetable or Sunflower Oil
  • 1 Onion
  • Braising Steak

Sauce ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 4 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 8 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Cup Water

Instructions

  1. Chop the steak into bite-sized chunks and dice the onion
  2. Add oil to a pan, or your slow cooker pan if you have a Simmer to Sizzle slow cooker
  3. Heat the oil then add the onion and steak - cook on high until browned
  4. Then, in a separate bowl, mix together the 'sauce ingredients' - cornflour, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, chilli sauce, lemon and water
  5. Into your slow cooker add the browned steak, onion and sauce mixture
  6. Cook for 3 hours on high or 5 hours on low
  7. Once cooked, stir and serve with noodles, rice or salad
